Making the August Gladiolus
Gladiolus is the birth flower for August! This unique plant is such a delight to see with its tall stems all filled with brightly colored flowers. Stitch this design for yourself or gift it to a friend who was born in August! The August Gladiolus is great for beginner and seasoned crafters alike.
Stitches in the August Gladiolus pattern
The August Gladiolus is filled with a bunch of flowers that work their way up the stems. All of these flowers are stitched with the backstitch to help us easily navigate the tight corners. Then, we used small backstitches for the centers with a French knot to reflect all the little stamin!
After the flowers were stitched, we added stems and leaves with stem stitch. To complete the points on the leaves, we stop and start up again to go down the other side. Learn more about going around corners with the stem stitch here. Finally, the whole piece is outlined with a light pink chain stitch.
