Making the September Aster
The September birth flower is the Aster! This flower has pretty, spindly petals and blooms in various colors in the pink and purple family. A burst of end-of-summer color and energy. Stitch this design for yourself or gift it to a friend who was born in September! The September Aster is great for beginner and seasoned crafters alike.
Stitches in the September Aster pattern
The color pallet and stitches in the September Aster pattern create an amazing pop of color and texture! The entire piece is outlined with a split stitch in our You're a Peach color. Then we've got the little leaves spread sporadically throughout the piece which are stitched with backstitch.
Getting to the main focal point of this piece, the aster flowers are stitched with tight lazy daisy stitches. To make the elongated, spikey petal look we simply tacked down the top of the lazy daisy stitch further away from the base point. This emphasizes the spindly look of the Aster flower. Finally, we finish off this pattern with clumps of Goldenrod French knots in the center of each flower.
