Making the June Rose
The June birth flower is the rose! Offered in a variety of colors, each with its own meaning, the rose is a special flower that often symbolizes love or the heart. Stitch this design for yourself or gift it to a friend who was born in June! The June Rose is great for beginner and seasoned crafters alike.
Stitches in the June Rose pattern
The June Rose starts with an elegant chain stitch border in light pink, Petal. Then, we add the various colors of roses, Northern Cardinal, Bumblebee, and Garden Rose, with the backstitch to help us easily navigate the rounded corners and achieve the flow of the rose petals. We also used backstitch for the green sepals under each rose, the thorns, and the rose bud.
After the roses were stitched, we added stems and leaves with stem stitch. To turn the corner on the leaves, we stopped at the point, and then started up again to go down the other side. Learn more about going around corners with the stem stitch here.
