Making of the February Violet
Violet is the birth flower for the month of February. We chose to use the African Violet for February. With its large, heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers, this is definitely one to enjoy. Stitch this design for yourself or gift it to a friend who was born in February! This pattern is great for beginner and seasoned crafters alike.
Violet Inspiration
The inspiration for the February Violet embroidery pattern came from Alyssa's beautiful African Violet. This plant decided to flower in full-bloom while we were brainstorming flower ideas. Here are a couple of pictures of the inspiration behind this pattern:
Stitches in the Violet pattern
The February Violet starts with backstitch for the wrinkly purple flower. This stitch is best for getting around those tight corners. The center of the flower has yellow, Bumblebee, French knots.
For the leaves and stems, we used the stem stitch. This adds a great texture and flow to the leaves! Finally, the whole piece is outlined with a chain stitch.
