The ABC Stitch Along Journey
The ABC Stitch Along started as an idea to revisit the patterns that started it all - the ABC Animal Collection. Ten years prior to this stitch along, Alyssa, owner and founder of Penguin & Fish, challenged herself to design an animal for every letter of the alphabet. These animals became the catalyst that started Penguin & Fish. Several animals were turned into embroidery kits, all of the animals were made into iron-on patterns, and after stitching them for the first time, they also became a quilt.
Though Penguin & Fish now offers a variety of playful designs and embroidery kits, these 26 fun-loving animals remained. To honor that journey, Alyssa stitched up each of the animals during her Livestream, but this time she added addition creative colors and stitches. These animals were then made into a quilt that would eventually be a baby gift for Alyssa's first baby, all while raising money for the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
The ABC Stitch Along began on January 31, 2022 and went through February 2023. Follow along with real-time videos for the whole process on the ABC Stitch Along Review blog post.
